Melvin Leon Brunson, 28yoa, of Princess Anne, Md was arrested for possession of marihuana, disturbance of the peace, resisting arrest, obstructing, assault 2nd Degree, trespassing, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Officers responded to the area of Linwood Street and East Church Street for a report of drug dealing.  A description of the suspects involved was also provided.  As officers arrived in the area they were able to locate and detain the suspects.  During the interview, officers met with Brunson who admitted to having a quantity of marihuana on his person.  Upon making the admission Brunson fled from the area on foot.  Brunson was tackled in the 700 block of East Church Street where he also attempted to strike an officer with his fist.  Brunson continued to resist arrest but was eventually subdued.  Brunson was released to the custody of Central Booking.

Four juveniles, 16-17yoa, all of Salisbury were arrested for being in possession of alcohol by person under 21yoa.  Officers responded to a disturbance at the parking lot of Chef Fred’s restaurant.  On arrival officers met with employees that advised the officers that several juveniles were in the parking lot attempting to start arguments with customers.  The employees said that the juveniles were last seen going into a room at the Best Western.  Officers were able to make contact with the juveniles inside one of the rooms.  In their possession were empty containers of beer and whiskey.  All the juveniles were identified, detained, and transported to the police department where they were released to the custody of their respective parents.

Darryl Anthony Byrd, 42yoa, of Salisbury was arrested for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Officers were on patrol in the 100 block of North Salisbury Boulevard.  Officers observed Byrd, who is known to them and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  Upon taking Byrd into custody, a quantity of suspected cocaine and a smoking device was recovered on Byrd.  Byrd was released to the custody of Central Booking.

Jeffrey Marcellous Stewart Jr, 23yoa, of Salisbury was arrested for 1st Degree Assault, 3 counts of 2nd Degree Assault, possession with the intent to distribute marihuana, possession of marihuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.  Stewart was stopped for a motor vehicle violation in the area of Hill Street and Fitzwater Street.  As the officer met with Stewart, the officer detected an odor of burnt marihuana coming from inside Stewart’s vehicle.  The officer asked Stewart to exit his vehicle.  Stewart put the vehicle in drive and turned the steering wheel towards the officer.  Stewart then accelerated rapidly and the vehicle struck the officer dragging him approximately twenty feet.  Additional officers arrived on scene and pursued Stewart to the area of Second St where Stewart lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility police causing it to crack.  Stewart then fled on foot from the vehicle but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.  A search of Stewart’s vehicle as well as his person found a large amount of suspected marihuana and U.S. Currency to indicate distribution.  Stewart was released to the custody of Central Booking.

Antonio Garcia Castaneda, 57yoa, of Salisbury was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault.  Officers responded to the 900 block of Green-Mor Avenue for a reported assault.  Officers met with the victim who is married to Castaneda.  The victim advised that she and Castaneda became involved in an argument and Castaneda struck her with board in her left arm.  Castaneda then attempted to choke the victim.  Castaneda was released to the custody of Central Booking.

Valerie Lynn Lowery, 45yoa, of Salisbury was arrested for disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and malicious destruction of property over $500.  Officers responded to the Ramada Inn for an intoxicated female causing a disturbance inside the hotel.  Officers arrived on scene and found Lowery lying on her back at the front door of the Ramada Inn.  Lowery could not tell the officers how she got to the Ramada Inn.  She then became very belligerent and started to yell profanities.  Lowery was placed under arrest and placed inside a patrol vehicle where she attempted to kick out one of the windows causing minor damage to the vehicle.  Lowery was released to the custody of Central Booking.
