Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program FY 2007 Local Solicitation.

The City of Salisbury and WicomicoCounty is eligible under FY2007 Jag funding in the amount of $68,751.  These agencies have been designated as disparate jurisdiction and have agreed to share the award with the City of Salisbury receiving $34,376 and WicomicoCounty receiving $34,375.  The City of Salisbury will continue to utilize these grants with all funding going toward technology.  With previous LLEBG and JAG awarded grants, this agency has built and expanded the Eastern Shore Mobile Data Network consisting of 14 agencies covering 5 counties. In addition to this network, this agency’s internal network has been expanded and upgraded to include Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management System, integrated imaging system, mobile dispatch and field reporting.  The agency’s web site, both hardware and software, were purchased with these funds. With this award, computer hardware in this agency will be upgraded in areas to continue to improve officer safety. This will include support to gang investigations.

Wicomico County Sherriff’s Office plans to use there funding for the placement of mobile data computers, in-car cameras and technology upgrades.  The mobile data computers will be connecting to a regional mobile data network and used for, among several tasks, information sharing among different law enforcement agencies.  The in-car cameras will be utilized for the documentation of evidence that may involve high risk traffic stops involving weapons, gang members, drug violations. The remainder will be utilized for technology upgrades needed to keep pace for the support units that service these officers.
